Question 1

How does AI video clipping work?

Accepted Answer

AI video clipping tools analyse the transcript and audio patterns of a long-form video to automatically identify the most engaging, shareable moments. The AI scores each segment based on speech clarity, topic completeness, emotional tone, and pacing, then extracts those moments as standalone short-form clips. Videotto’s AI does this automatically the moment you upload, with no manual scrubbing or timeline editing required.

Question 2

How accurate is AI at finding the best moments in a podcast?

Accepted Answer

Modern AI clip detection is highly accurate for speech-driven content. For a natural, conversational podcast, the AI correctly identifies high-engagement moments such as strong opinions, stories, surprising facts, and quotable one-liners the majority of the time. You can also guide the AI using keywords or topic prompts to focus on specific guests, themes, or segments, giving you more control over which moments get clipped.

Question 3

Can AI automatically clip the best moments from a livestream?

Accepted Answer

Yes. AI video clipping works on any long-form video with clear speech, including livestreams, Twitch VODs, YouTube Live recordings, webinars, and conference talks. The AI identifies complete, self-contained moments that will make sense to a viewer who hasn’t watched the full stream.

Question 4

What types of videos work best with AI clipping?

Accepted Answer

AI clipping performs best on speech-driven content such as podcasts, interview shows, panel discussions, webinars, conference keynotes, educational tutorials, and commentary-style YouTube videos. The more natural and conversational the content, the better the AI performs. Music videos, silent B-roll, or heavily produced broadcast content with background music are less suited to AI clipping.

Question 5

How does AI video clipping handle multiple speakers?

Accepted Answer

AI clip detection is designed for multi-speaker content. It detects speaker changes in real time and frames each clip around the active speaker, keeping the content clear and watchable even with 3–4 guests on screen. This makes it especially effective for interview podcasts and panel discussions where different guests make strong points at different moments.

Question 6

Can I direct the AI toward specific topics or moments in my video?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can use keywords or topic prompts to guide the AI toward specific themes, guests, segments, or talking points. For example, if you want clips only about "marketing strategy" from a 2-hour business podcast, you can prompt the AI to prioritise those moments. This is particularly useful for long-form interviews where only part of the conversation is relevant to a specific audience.

Question 7

How many clips can I get from a 1-hour podcast?

Accepted Answer

A typical 60-minute podcast generates between 15 and 40 clips automatically, depending on content density and pacing. A fast-moving interview with strong soundbites will yield more clips than a slow-paced narrative podcast. You can set preferences for clip count and duration before processing.

Question 8

How long does AI video processing take?

Accepted Answer

Most videos are processed within 10 minutes. A 60-minute podcast typically generates 40+ clips in under 15 minutes. Processing happens in the cloud, so you can upload and close your browser; your clips will be ready when you return.

Question 9

How accurate are AI-generated captions for video clips?

Accepted Answer

AI caption accuracy depends on audio quality and accent clarity. For clear, conversational speech in standard English, accuracy is typically very high, comparable to professional transcription services. Captions are fully editable after generation, so you can correct any errors and adjust timing before exporting. For non-native English speakers or strong regional accents, reviewing captions before publishing is recommended.

Question 10

Does AI captioning work for languages other than English?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Videotto supports multiple languages for auto-captioning. If your podcast is in Spanish, Mandarin, Bahasa Indonesia, or other supported languages, the AI will generate captions in that language automatically. This makes it useful for multilingual creators and Southeast Asian content teams publishing across different regional audiences.

Question 11

Can I customise captions and branding on my clips?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can customise caption font, size, colour, position, and timing. You can also add your brand logo, colours, and preset styles, and save those settings so they apply automatically to every clip you generate. This means every clip you publish is consistently branded without any manual formatting work per clip.

Question 12

What resolution are exported video clips?

Accepted Answer

All plans export in full 1080p HD, suitable for professional publishing on any platform. Clips are exported in the correct aspect ratio for each platform; 9:16 for TikTok and YouTube Shorts, 1:1 for Instagram feed, 16:9 for LinkedIn and YouTube.

Question 13

Is auto-generated content lower quality than manually edited clips?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. AI-generated clips from a well-structured podcast can match, and often exceed, the quality of manually edited clips in terms of pacing and caption accuracy, because the AI is consistent and doesn’t miss moments due to fatigue. The main difference is creative judgement; a human editor can apply editorial taste that AI cannot fully replicate. For most social media clips, AI quality is more than sufficient and significantly faster.

Question 14

Can I manually edit clips after the AI generates them?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every AI-generated clip can be refined in the built-in editor. Trim start and end points, adjust captions, swap layouts, change aspect ratio, and update branding. The AI gives you a strong starting point; you stay in full control of the final output.

Question 15

How do I turn a podcast into short clips for TikTok and YouTube Shorts?

Accepted Answer

Upload your podcast episode (or paste a YouTube URL), let the AI detect the best moments, review and customise the generated clips, then export directly to TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels in the correct format for each platform. The entire process, from upload to published clip, takes under 30 minutes for a full podcast episode.

Question 16

Can I import a podcast directly from YouTube without downloading it?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Paste any YouTube URL into Videotto and it will import the video automatically, no downloading required. Google Drive imports are also supported, so you can work directly from your existing content storage without moving files manually.

Question 17

Which social media platforms can I publish clips to?

Accepted Answer

Clips can be exported and published directly to YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram Reels, and LinkedIn. Each platform receives a clip in its optimised format and aspect ratio automatically, no manual reformatting needed.

Question 18

Can I repurpose a podcast transcript into a blog post or newsletter?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Videotto generates a full transcript of your video as part of the clipping process. You can download the transcript from your project dashboard and use it to write blog posts, newsletters, social captions, or show notes, turning one recording session into content across multiple formats.

Question 19

Can I post clips to multiple platforms at the same time?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Once your clips are ready you can export them in formats optimised for each platform simultaneously. No reformatting or resizing needed; the correct dimensions and file specs are applied automatically per platform.

Question 20

What video formats can I upload for AI clipping?

Accepted Answer

All major video formats are supported including MP4, MOV, MKV, and AVI. MP4 is recommended for the fastest processing. There is no need to convert or compress your file before uploading.

Question 21

Is there a maximum video file size or length I can upload?

Accepted Answer

Uploads are capped at 50GB on a paid plan and 10GB otherwise, with a maximum bitrate of 80 Mbps. AV1-encoded files are not supported. A video needs to be at least 3 minutes long for AI clipping; anything shorter can still be captioned. Some tools have tighter limits of their own: AI Motion takes clips up to 3 minutes and 5GB, and Jump Cuts up to 10 minutes and 5GB. Most podcast episodes, livestream VODs, and long-form interviews fit comfortably.

Question 22

Can I use an AI video clipping tool on mobile?

Accepted Answer

Partly. Uploading videos, reviewing your generated clips, and downloading them all work in a mobile browser, with no app download required. The clip editor itself is desktop-only: opening a clip for editing is blocked on phones and tablets, and on browser windows narrower than 768px. Plan to upload and review from your phone, and do your editing on a laptop or desktop.

Question 23

Who owns the content I upload to an AI video editor?

Accepted Answer

You own your content entirely. Uploading a video to an AI clipping tool does not transfer any rights to the platform. Videotto never uses uploaded videos to train AI models, never shares content with third parties, and all uploaded files are encrypted in storage. Your content remains yours, always.

Question 24

Is it safe to upload podcast recordings to an AI video tool?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All uploaded videos are encrypted in transit and at rest. Videotto does not share content with third parties and does not use uploads for AI training. For enterprise teams with stricter data requirements, the Business plan includes enterprise-grade security controls.

Question 25

How long are my videos and clips stored?

Accepted Answer

Videos are kept for 30 days on a paid plan, and 7 days otherwise. You can keep any individual video permanently with "Save forever", and you can download clips or delete projects from your dashboard at any time. Once a video expires you have a further 3 days to recover it before its media is deleted. One thing worth knowing before you cancel: cancelling your subscription resets every video to a 7-day window and clears the "Save forever" setting, including on videos you had already saved. Download anything you want to keep before you cancel.

Question 26

Are there copyright issues with publishing AI-edited clips from my podcast?

Accepted Answer

No, provided you own the rights to your original content. AI editing does not create new copyright; it processes footage you upload. You retain full rights to the clips you generate. The one caveat: if your podcast includes licensed music, third-party footage, or clips from other creators, standard copyright rules apply to that content regardless of how it was edited. Always ensure you have rights to any music in the background of your recordings.

Question 27

Is there a free AI video clipping tool available without a credit card?

Accepted Answer

Plans start at $20/month and include a monthly credit allowance, AI Clipping and AI Motion, multi-language captions, auto-posting to social platforms, and clip editing. See the pricing page for full details.

Question 28

What is the difference between free and paid AI video clipping plans?

Accepted Answer

Paid plans are for creators who publish regularly. They include a monthly credit allowance for clipping and rendering, AI Clipping and AI Motion, multi-language captions, Dropbox and Google Drive imports, auto-posting to social platforms, clip editing, and more storage with a longer retention window. Higher tiers add a larger credit allowance, advanced analytics, and priority support. See the pricing page for a full comparison.

Question 29

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan at any time?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately once the upgrade payment goes through, and the extra credits are available straight away. Downgrades are scheduled instead: you keep your current plan and credits until the start of your next billing cycle, then the lower plan takes over. To leave a paid plan entirely, cancel your subscription from the subscription page.

Question 30

How much does AI video editing cost compared to hiring a freelance video editor?

Accepted Answer

Freelance video editors typically charge $50–$150 per hour for short-form clip editing. A single podcast episode with 10 clips could cost $200–$500 in editing fees. Videotto’s Pro plan at $20/month generates approximately 130 clips, making the cost per clip under $0.16, compared to $20–$50 per clip with a freelance editor.

Question 31

What is the difference between AI video clipping and manual video editing?

Accepted Answer

Manual video editing requires scrubbing through a full recording, identifying moments by hand, cutting and trimming in a timeline editor, adding captions individually, and exporting separately for each platform. This typically takes 2–4 hours per podcast episode. AI video clipping automates the detection, cutting, captioning, and formatting steps, reducing the same workflow to 15–30 minutes. Manual editing offers more creative control; AI clipping offers speed, consistency, and scale.

Question 32

Is AI video clipping good enough to replace a video editor?

Accepted Answer

For short-form social media clips (TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels), AI clipping is good enough for most creators publishing regularly. The AI handles detection, captions, and formatting accurately and consistently. For long-form narrative editing, documentary-style production, or highly branded hero content, a human editor still adds value that AI cannot replicate. Many creators use both: AI for social clips at volume, human editors for flagship content.

Question 33

How do I repurpose long-form content for short-form social media?

Accepted Answer

The most efficient workflow is: record once in long form (podcast, webinar, livestream), then use an AI clipping tool to automatically extract 15–40 short clips, customise captions and branding, and publish across TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels simultaneously. This "record once, publish everywhere" approach lets a single recording session fuel weeks of social content.
